I can create a linked server for an MS Access Database with SQL Server if it's in my local machine, but can't do it in a remote machine. Any suggestions?
When I try to do in a remote machine something like this: SELECT * FROM OPENQUERY(linkedservername, 'select count(*) as COUNTER FROM some_table') ... it throws me this error: Could not initialize data source object of OLE DB provider 'Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0'. [OLE/DB provider returned message: Cannont start your application. The workgroup information file is missing or opened exclusively by another user.] I'm sure that the Database is not opened exclusively by another user and I use the user Admin with NULL password to access the table which works perfectly in my local machine but not if I try to reach a MS ACCESS Database from a remote machine. Any suggestions?
